The voltage requirements for the radio are less than the 12 volts used in the vehicle. Experience removing interior vehicle panels would be a plus.If you are considering just cutting the plug from your Sirius radio and just hard wiring directly into your vehicles electrical system, beware. The only way to do a clean installation is with the installation kit. The Sirius Professional Vehicle Install Kit is a "must have" for a clean, clutter free installation with direct connection to the vehicles electrical system. The entire installation took under an hour.
I didn't use half the parts provided, however.I also needed an antenna adapter too, 40-GM31. I went from tons of static and barely audible on only a couple frequencies. though I suppose you could just solder and tape it. You should defiantly check to see if you need an antenna adapter, as some car companies' antennas come in different sizes. to no static and working on every frequency. It was interesting learning to disassemble the dashboard to install it too.
The delivery time of two days when I only requested standard delivery more than exceeded my expectations and the price was the lowest available. Product was exactly what I needed to do a professional installation of my Sirius receiver.
I saved it for a later install down the road.I will very likely purchase this again or suggest it to the next person that installs Sirius in their vehicle. I purchased this kit to install Sirius in a family member's truck.Previously I have purchased only the FM relay and used the DC adapter that came with the Sirius radio, but this time I figured that I would do a professional looking install. The quality of the kit is very good and it honestly comes with more pieces that you will likely use. The mount is very nice, but I ended up not using it as I found a better location on the dash.
It's much better than using a tape adapter and cigarette lighter adapter. I only used the FM Direct and Power Adapter to connect to my stock 2004 Toyota Tacoma radio.
